Help with Generalised Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety and Performance Anxiety

Feeling anxious is part of the human experience

  • Anxiety stems from an overestimation about the level of threat and the underestimation of one's ability to cope. A lot of the time anxiety is caused by a person's need “TO KNOW!". This ongoing worry and tension can interfere with daily activities and can cause physical symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, muscle tension, difficulty sleeping, and irritability.
  • Social Anxiety is characterised by an overwhelming fear of social situations, typically involving excessive worry and rumination before, during and after an event. At its core it stems from an overwhelming fear of experiencing shame and embarrassment. Someone who suffers with Social Anxiety may try to avoid social situations altogether. This can impact relationships, work and daily activities. Treatment for social anxiety typically includes exploring your fears arising from social situations, advancing social and assertiveness skills to help you manage your fears and regain confidence in social situations.
  • Health Anxiety can manifest as excessive worry about your health, leading to significant distress including excessive checking, reassurance seeking, often from GPs, or avoidance altogether. At SC-Therapies, I offer a safe and supportive environment to address these issues and reduce symptoms.
  • Appearance Concerns and Body Dysmorphia is characterised by an excessive preoccupation with a perceived flaw or flaws in one's physical appearance that are not always noticeable to others. Common areas of concern may include skin and nose, facial features or body size and shape.
  • Specific Phobia is characterised by an intense fear of a situation or experience, often including a fear of heights, enclosed spaces and even being or seeing sick (Emetophobia). At SC-Therapies, I offer a safe and supportive environment to address these issues, including Exposure Therapy to reduce symptoms.
  • Panic Disorder with or without Agoraphobia: Panic Disorder is used to describe a condition where panic can occur unexpectedly, sometimes with symptoms so real they can be mistaken for having a heart attack. Sometimes just stepping out of the comfort of your own home can feel scary, (Agoraphobia). At SC-Therapies, I offer a safe and supportive environment to address these issues, including Thought Restructuring, Exposure Therapy and Mindfulness Tools to reduce symptoms and to enable you to lead a fulfilling life.
